Mission Verte is a Mauritian non-profit association created in 2007, to work for the preservation of the environment through education and positive action.
The aim is to raise public awareness about the need to reduce, reuse, recycle and compost waste.
The organisation is currently operating about 50 recycling bins sites around Mauritius. Mission Verte acts as monitors and ensure that the waste collected (paper, cardboard, aluminium cans and plastic) in their bins goes through the proper channels, i.e. recycling and exporting companies.
They strongly believe that education goes hand in hand with any of our actions. In order to make people understand waste sorting and ecological behaviour and motivate them to successfully implement it at the workplace or at home, we organise education and conferences sessions for schools, community centres and companies, and also home composting sessions. Up to now, about 25,000 people have completed educational sessions with the association.
